It has been a colorful, creative journey for Kelly as she found her way to Sarasota and entered into the real estate industry. She was living on Maryland’s eastern shore and had a second home in the Florida Keys. On one of her semi-annual trips south, a detour led her and her husband, Alex, to Sarasota and suddenly there was no doubt about where they wanted to be. They loved that in Sarasota, they could find ... more.an atmosphere of great architecture coupled with a thriving cultural scene. In 2016, they “closed up shop” in Maryland and the Florida Keys and settled in Sarasota full-time.
The choice to enter the real estate field was an exciting natural progression for Kelly. Her background spans 20 years in the arts, first as a designer/art director in print media, then as a designer of museum exhibits and coffee table art books for Alex’s architectural firm. While there, she learned not only the principles of good design but she found she had a knack for helping people take an idea from fruition to completion. She found the latter very fulfilling, and this led to a new side job – she became a certified life coach working with creative people. She learned a lot from her clients and in 2008, alongside Alex, they developed a class called “The Creative Process” and taught it at Washington College where Kelly worked as an adjunct art professor for seven years. She has a BFA in drawing from MICA, and an MFA in creative writing from Spalding University.
For Kelly, real estate is an opportunity to use her skills to help people find homes that speak to them like none other, or as she likes to call them, “castles”. Customers discover working with Kelly makes the process easy, interesting and pleasurable. Extremely empathetic, she is quick to understand what her customers want. Kelly, combined with the unparalleled resources of Michael Saunders & Company, has the good fortune of helping her customers buy and sell dream castles on vibrant Siesta Key and other fine Sarasota vistas.
